About La Comunidad Israelita de Puerto Rico
Who we are & our vision
La Comunidad Israelita de Puerto Rico is a community of Puerto Ricans who have made an Orthodox or Sephardic halachic return/conversion to Judaism through a beit din approved by the Israeli Rabbinate or Orthodox/Sephardic beit din which would qualify the individual to be an integral member of an Orthodox or Sephardic shul and its community.
Our vision is to establish a community space where we can engage with similar Puerto Ricans to explore the meaning and purpose of our re-emerging collective presence. We address questions such as: Is there a reason for bringing together Puerto Rican Orthodox and Sephardic Jews? What are the best means for bringing them together? Is it a continuously interactive community or does it operate sporadically? Does it have a purpose or mission? If so, what is it? If this is your identity, consider joining us to explore these questions and others and forge a plan for La Comunidad Israelita de Puerto Rico.
Why Join With Us
Experience a connection with the small but growing worldwide community of Orthodox and Sephardic Puerto Ricans who have made an authentic and recognized return to Am Israel
Work with other fellow Puerto Ricans who are working on documenting their Jewish heritage, genetic connections, and shared converso and crypto-Jewish identity and culture.
Extend the light that shines the path for the real possibility of an Orthodox return that often seems impossible, challenging or unavailable to many Puerto Ricans.
